A straightforward explanation of what happens when you use FreeAIUpscaler. Last updated October 31, 2026.
Your images are processed on our server
When you choose a photo, your browser displays a local preview. When you select “Upscale image,” the file is uploaded to our server for AI processing. Processing does not happen entirely on your device.
We store the uploaded image, its processed result, and job details needed to deliver the service. These details include dimensions, scale, job status, timestamps, and processing duration.
Access is limited to your browser session
The service uses an essential HttpOnly session cookie to associate jobs with your browser. Image and result endpoints check this session before returning a file. A different browser session cannot retrieve your private jobs just by knowing a job URL.
The session cookie can remain for up to 30 days. Your browser also stores the latest job ID locally so that reloading the page can restore progress. Clearing cookies can make previous results inaccessible. A shared browser or device may still have access to the session.
Retention and deletion
Completed and failed jobs, including their image files, are scheduled for deletion after 24 hours. Cleanup runs periodically, so deletion may occur after that threshold. Active jobs are retained until processing ends.
Download any results you want to keep promptly. We do not provide a permanent photo library or guarantee that a result will remain available. Public sample images are kept as examples and are listed separately with their sources.
Technical information
The service records the requesting IP address with a job to enforce shared network usage limits. Hosting and network providers may also process connection information and technical logs needed to operate and protect the service.
The application uses essential session cookies and local job storage. We use Google Analytics 4 to understand website visits, referral sources, and general browser and device information. Google Analytics may set first-party analytics cookies. Our measurement configuration does not send uploaded images, original filenames, private job identifiers, or result links to Google Analytics. Page URLs are sent without query strings or fragments, and referral URLs are limited to the referring site’s origin. Google Signals and advertising personalization are disabled. Information needed to provide the service may also pass through our hosting and CDN infrastructure.
What to upload
Only upload images that you own or have permission to process. Avoid uploading sensitive personal information. You can stop before submission by removing your selected image. Once a job is submitted, it continues processing on the server even if you close the page.
Terms of use
FreeAIUpscaler is a free shared service. Fair-use limits apply, and availability, queue time, and processing speed vary. Do not bypass usage limits, disrupt the service, or upload unlawful material.
You keep your existing rights in your images. You give us permission to store and process an uploaded image to provide your requested result. Upscaling does not transfer ownership of the original image or grant rights you do not already have.
AI estimates new details and can change faces, text, or textures. A larger image does not guarantee more accurate detail. Keep your original and review the output before using it. The service is provided as available, without a promise of a particular result.
The downloadable result is a PNG without an added watermark. You are responsible for deciding whether your use of the original and processed image is permitted.
